How long of an appointment should i book?
Homeopathy is a highly individualized and broad ranging system of medicine that is being used in the treatment of both the acute and chronic diseases whether on the physical, emotional or mental level. As no two patients are the same, their requirements are also unique.
In a day-to-day practice this means if one hundred patients visit a homeopathic physician for a migraine headache of for an anxiety, each one might be receiving a unique remedy based on their constitutional state. This also means for each condition we have hundreds of different remedies to choose from.
This makes homeopathy very promising but at the same time a complex system medicine. It is indeed as complex as the object of its treatment, the human being itself.
To cure a patient, we really need to know the patient in all its manifestations and complexities. I have been in practice for 35 years and have treated over 10000 patients. Regardless of how well I think I know a patient and how many hours I may have spent with a patient, there are still some noteworthy data that are revealed in subsequent follow ups. That is why it is so hard to predict the ideal length of a consultation for any given patient.
There are many considerations to take into account. Read below to explore the 5 factors to consider in booking your appointment.
as a rule of thumb
consider these 5 factors
factors to consider
age of the patient
The older a patient is, the more history and events have been accumulated. It roughly takes an hour to know a 10-year-old and 4 to 5 hours to know a 50-year-old.
But age is not the only determinant fact.
Factors To consider
severity of the disease
A 50-year-old might be relatively healthy without much history of trauma on the physical and emotional level while a 10-year-old might have a severe disease at a young age and might have suffered many traumas at multiple levels.
Factors to consider
Acuteness of the disease
An acute disease is a disease that has started recently. It usually takes less time to treat a real acute disease.
There is a big difference between someone who has a cold every 2-3 years vs. someone who has a cold every 3 months.
Most acute conditions need to be differentiated from an "acute exacerbation of a chronic disease" as the latter will take more time to decipher and find the perfect remedy to treat it.
Factors to consider
Self Awareness

Factors to consider
financial state
The financial state of the patient + the importance one places on their health are deeply intertwined.
One persona might have plenty of money and spend it on everything but their health while someone else might be struggling financially but always give the highest importance to their health.
But there are times when a person places a high value on their health but cannot afford to see a professional. At IHC, we are always willing to help find a solution for this latter group.
